What is the best ingredient in an anti-aging cream? Is it peptide, calcium, alpha hydoxy, vit. C, E, or other?

If we knew this for certain we would have the proverbial ';Fountain of Youth';.

My opinion only a good moistuizer is essential.

cold pressed seed oils, and antioxidants, a variety of grape ingredients. What is the best ingredient in an anti-aging cream? Is it peptide, calcium, alpha hydoxy, vit. C, E, or other?
Vitamin E as found in fresh ejaculate applied to the face and neck. What is the best ingredient in an anti-aging cream? Is it peptide, calcium, alpha hydoxy, vit. C, E, or other?
I do not know, all of the above I suppose.

A few words of wisdom though, diet, water, exercise, non-smoking and limited drinking and exposure to the sun are some good things you can do for your body and skin...

Vitamin C %26amp; E provide antioxidant protection. Vitamin C also stimulates collagen production.

Calcium; I've never heard of calcium-containing products for skin, so I'm not sure.

Peptides; If you mean Copper Peptides, I would say stay away from this. Its ';anti-aging properties'; were discovered in the 1970s by Dr. Pickart. Research on it is quite minimal and considering that again, its anti-aging properties were only discovered in the 1970s, the long-term effects of its use has not really been proven safe. If you mean other peptides ... well then, ha ha, I don't know. But a good thing to know is whether the peptides could actually penetrate into the epidermis and not just ';sit'; on top of the skin.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids are basically chemical exfoliants. They aid in exfoliation so, these are pretty good and they have been used for decades so ...this is safe.

In all, Vitamin C, E, and AHAs are, in my opinion, the best.

By the way, for Vitamin C, don't purchase drugstore brands. For Vitamin C, L-Ascorbic Acid is what should be looked for. Most, if not all drugstore brands, contain other forms of Vitamin C that, overall, are not as effective in protecting the skin and stimulating collagen production.
There is a very good article about anti aging creams in the Oct. '06 issue of Good Housekeeping.

Either retinol or alphahydroxy acid.

Alphahydroxy acid works as an exfoliant, so it keeps the skin ';new'; by helping it to slough off layers of dead cells for a clearer, fresher complexion. I would recommend also using an exfoliant scrub that contains salicylic acid about once a week for maximum benefit.

Retinol can actually work to improve cell regeneration rate and structure in skin and is most valuable in keeping pores from being clogged.

Both are widely available -- Avon's ANEW line contains both types. If you're paying more than $20 - $25 a jar for skin cream, you're not getting your money's worth -- these two ingredients are top of the line in terms of effectiveness for aging skin.
Vitamin C is also very good for anti-aging.
